Joy Singers

The Joy Singers is a choir of about 20 to 25 people, most of which are senior citizens. They meet at St. Paul on Tuesday mornings and travel to nursing homes in the New River Valley, Roanoke and Salem. When traveling outside of Christiansburg the church bus is used for transportation. The scheduled leave time is at 10:00am. There is a fall program, a Christmas program and a spring program.

The singers sing for about 30 minutes at each facility with music selections consisting of familiar songs from the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's. They love when the residents sing along, so they try to have a music selection that they will know. The programs end with some old gospel songs which the singers especially enjoy. There are members who have been in the group for many years, and usually after they sing they will all go to lunch together.

"We enjoy what we do and feel that our mission is to bring Joy to the residents."
